How it works
Everyone is different and at Coaching+ we believe in a holistic approach…we also understand you (whether you are a business or an individual) might want to know what working with us looks like.
Coaching+ partners with businesses to support leadership development at both a group and individual level. We are often engaged during a period of transition, for either organisation or the individual. A time when the status quo has become insufficient and new ways of leading are required.
Throughout this partnership, we offer more than you might associate with traditional 1:1 coaching.
Why we focus on more than just coaching:
Walking the walk with 20+ years of frontline, commercial experience, gained in highly-competitive, fast paces plus entrepreneurial businesses.
A strategic leadership development partner that supports more than just 1:1 coaching.
All of our solutions are underpinned by psychological and psychotherapeutic insights.
Lucy
“Lucy was close to burn out, struggling with pressure in and out of work. Coaching+ supported her to address and define these challenges, working with her to find long lasting coping strategies. Read on to find out how our work not only helped Lucy with her mental health but allowed her to find her work mojo again.”

Challenge:
At the time of our work together, Lucy had been showing signs of struggling to cope with the demands of a busy, senior position in a fast-paced business, alongside her responsibilities as a manager and the pressures of life outside of work. The impact to Lucy included indecisiveness, a loss of confidence and a decline in her usual highly-organised working style.
How the work started:
Initially, we worked together intensively to address the immediate mental health challenges. We explored coping strategies to help create some equilibrium, including mindfulness and breathing exercises.
The work:
We also looked at specific situations which triggered the unhelpful feelings and identified ways of responding to these in a more productive manner. We explored the alternatives to staying in role, which allowed Lucy to identify that she did want to stay but needed to find ways of setting and maintaining boundaries. Together, we located and established these boundaries and subsequently, Lucy was able to communicate her needs clearly to the business and work with her manager and HR to identify any areas where the organisation could support her.
Outcomes along the way:
Now, Lucy feels much more in control – of life and work. Her usual high-performance has returned and she feels much more confident. She is far more engaged as an employee and has become a great ambassador for mental health and an advocate for the organisation with colleagues. Lucy has no intention of leaving the business and in fact is considering taking on more responsibility in the future.
Coaching+ thoughts
With coaching, you never know where you will be led by the coachee. And with Lucy, her mental health was the priority which is where we focussed the attention to begin with. This is where our psychotherapy qualifications and experience make the difference; we are equipped to handle the twisty wood that the mind can be. Until we had addressed that, it would have been difficult to create lasting developmental change for Lucy.

Noah
“Noah was respected by his team and between them, created a culture of loyalty and collaboration. This culture was exclusive to this team only – read on to find out how Coaching+ supported Noah in building relationships across the board and what impact that had on those around him.”

Challenge:
Noah was a high achiever and had cultivated a fierce loyalty from his team, however, his relationships with other managers across the organisation were less than ideal.
Noah led his team and his team alone, without any consideration for other managers which resulted in friction and intervention from the senior leadership team.
How the work started:
Somewhat reluctantly on Noah’s part – we explored the benefits that might be realised by addressing the tensions and his contribution to them.
The work:
We explored his sense of self in the workplace and looked at the situations which most frequently resulted in conflict. We worked together to evaluate the advantages of considering multiple points of view and of engaging and aligning with peers throughout a project. We reflected on the benefits of this approach to the organisation, but also to Noah as an individual. And additionally, we expanded Noah’s sense of his responsibilities as a manager to encompass not just his team, but his working relationships with peers and their combined productivity.
Outcomes along the way:
Now, Noah is regarded by colleagues, leaders and his team as a great collaborator. Projects that he is responsible for are well-aligned to organisational objectives and have improved outputs. His team feels part of the overall business and are more engaged, rather than siloed and apart. The solutions that Noah is part of, show increased creativity and pro-activity, as he is partnering with colleagues from across the business to develop them. Finally, the requirement for senior leadership intervention has disappeared almost entirely.
Coaching+ thoughts
Noah was very interesting to work with, despite being reluctant in our first session he was absolutely dedicated to developing his skillset. It was great to see Noah extend his incredible skills of building a team, creating a deep connection and loyalty to his peers which in turn, worked wonders for the business.

Challenge:
Frustration at slow progress towards promotion, Magda had been given areas to focus on: leadership and impact on others. She was struggling to address these goals and was unable to identify a way forward on her own.
Magda is a highly-capable and valued employee of a fast-growing dynamic business, which had identified her as a top-performer.
How the work started:
We investigated Magda’s understanding of the development goals she’d been given and why they were so significant to her progression.
The work:
Together, we deepened Magda’s understanding and appreciation of the goals which had previously been superficial and started to explore ways she could change her behaviours to work towards these.
Outcomes along the way:
Magda’s self-awareness began to grow and she developed a greater appreciation of the impact her words and behaviours might have on others. She also increased her understanding of the influence she had in the organisation and the power this had over colleagues and her team.
Through our work together, the perception of Magda by peers and leaders in the organisation began to shift. Her existing capabilities and future potential was more widely recognised and as a result, the senior-level sponsorship for her promotion broadened.
Magda secured her promotion.
Coaching+ thoughts
Working with Magda was wonderful because her desire to develop, and the businesses belief in her abilities were in total harmony with each other. As an individual, seeing Magda flourish is one of the reasons why we do what we do and the best bit about it is, this is all Magda’s work.
